Another major milestone for the Sydney Metro project has been achieved, with initial construction works beginning on Cudgegong Road’s first railway platform.
The platform will be 187 metres long and 9 metres wide when completed. It is expected that the station will have a train run through it every 4 minutes in its peak when operational.
The Cudgegong Road Station will also feature a car park that will include 1,000 spaces for passengers travelling on the Sydney Metro.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance spoke of his pleasure with the works, stating “We’re cracking on with delivering this mega project for Sydney and the hive of construction activity is continuing in the North West.”
As part of the works, two twin metro tunnels will need to be built underneath the Sydney Harbour. Currently, invites have been sent to two consortiums to produce tenders for the project.

The consortium that is chosen to proceed with the project will be required to carry out tunnelling and excavation underneath the Sydney Harbour and CBD.
The NSW Government is hoping to have assigned a consortium to the project by the middle of 2017.
