McMahons Point Ferry Wharf upgrades complete

Passenger services will resume on Thursday after the rejuvenated McMahons Point Ferry Wharf upgrade works were completed.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance was today present at the Wharf, and spoke of the NSW Government’s commitment to upgrading all types of public transport infrastructure.

“The NSW Government is committed to making public transport more accessible for our customers and the new McMahons Point ferry wharf delivers exactly that.”

“The new floating pontoon will make it easier for less mobile customers to board and disembark ferries and provide improved seating and waiting areas. 

“The new wharf will also allow two ferries to berth simultaneously, improving service reliability and providing extra capacity for additional services down the track,” Mr Constance said.

McMahon Point Ferry Wharf is just one of 11 wharves that have been upgraded since 2012.

Member for North Shore Jillian Skinner spoke of the benefits of the upgraded wharves.

 “We want to encourage people to leave the car at home by making it easier to catch public transport, and we certainly would love to see more people out enjoying our great harbour on board a Sydney Ferry”

“I would like to thank the McMahons Point community and our ferry customers for their patience and understanding during construction over the last six months. We are delighted to be able to deliver an important piece of infrastructure that will continue to serve the community for many years to come.” 

Regular ferry services will resume tomorrow, with commuters able to visit www.transportnsw.info for timetabling information.
