Major maintenance work on the Entrance Bridge at the Central Coast will be completed by the end of the month.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government funded maintenance work beneath the bridge to ensure the bridge serves the community well into the future.
“The 467 metre long bridge which spans Tuggerah Lake was built in 1969 and forms part of Wilfred Barrett Drive,” the spokesperson said.
“Work included repairing some concrete supports of the 18 span bridge, applying a protective coat of paint and maintenance work which included installing a corrosion protection system.
“This work will significantly reduce the effect of salt water on the bridge and prolong its serviceable life.
“Roads and Maritime awarded the contract to repair the bridge and install cathodic protection to Marine & Civil Maintenance.”
The work started in June 2014 and will be completed by the end of July this year.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while this essential maintenance work was carried out.
