The New South Wales government has announced its commitment to build a $5 million pedestrian bridge across Pennant Hills Road.
Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee, said the pedestrian bridge would provide a range of new safety features.
“With thousands of motorists using the road every day, including heavy vehicles, the pedestrian bridge will improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists and minimise traffic flow stoppages” Geoff said.
“There are four schools nearby including Redeemer Baptist School, The Kings School, Tara Anglican School for Girls and Burnside Public School so the bridge would be used regularly by school children, staff and parents.”
Situated in North Parramatta, the government are seeking community feedback on the design and logistics of the bridge.
The heritage fence posts near the Burnside shopping village and Redeemer Baptist School are being removed during the works.
“The pedestrian bridge would have both stairs and lifts so it is accessible to all community members and the existing pedestrian crossing on the western side of the intersection would be removed,” he said.
Residents are being asked to lodge their feedback by 22 April 2016.
