Construction on the $8.29 million Woy Woy grandstand is now complete, with the addition of 600 new seats.
Minister for Regional Development, Fiona Nash, said the Australian government had invested $3.5 million towards the redevelopment.
“The programme is providing almost $350 million nationally to infrastructure projects that promote stable, secure and viable local and regional economies,” Nash said.
“This is an excellent new facility for community sport and is a great example of the Australian government's commitment to building productive infrastructure for local communities, and delivers on our positive Growth Plan for the Central Coast.”
Construction included new player change rooms, amenities, community rooms, referees room, a medical room and clubhouse.
Federal Member for Robertson, Lucy Wicks, said the new facilities are expected to attract rugby union and league championships.
“This is a fantastic day for the Peninsula and our region, and I'd like to thank the thousands of local residents, businesses and sports clubs who worked so hard to help make this project a reality,” Wicks said.
“The redevelopment will be a civic centrepiece, with new car parking, scoreboard, café, external dining area, fencing and landscaping, while also boosting local job creation.”
The grandstand was funded under the Community Development Grants Programme.
