The New South Wales government has announced the commencement of works on the Macarthur Bridge upgrade.
Member for Camden, Chris Patterson, said the upgrade of the Camden Bypass would begin this month.
“To reduce the impact on motorists work will be carried out daily from 8pm and 5am, excluding Saturdays, weather permitting,” Patterson said.
“The strengthening work will be carried out from Sunday 6 March to Friday 6 May and aims to improve the bridge’s structure and minimise future damage to ensure it continues to serve the community into the future.”
The New South Wales government has committed $1.2 million towards the major repair and rehabilitation of the 1.12 kilometre bridge.
Minor delays are expected for motorists in the area, with the work expected to take around 30 shifts to complete.
“The work is expected to take around 30 shifts to complete and will include repairing concrete and applying anti-corrosion coating to create a stronger and safer bridge,” he said.
“The bridge will remain open to traffic while work is carried out with changed conditions in place including lane closures to ensure the safety of workers and road users.
“Road users are asked to follow the direction of traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and traffic signs. “.
The bridge provides vital links to the Hume Motorway and M7 Motorway.
