Work is set to start next month on the Meadowbank Wharf upgrade to improve access to ferry services between Parramatta and Sydney CBD.
Member for Ryde, Victor Dominello, said the upgrade would be a boon for commuters to and from the cities.
“Ferry services will continue to operate to the wharf but brief closures may be required. Transport for NSW will provide customers with advance warning of any service changes,” Dominello said.
“At times when ferries are not operating to Meadowbank, we will still have other public transport options available. Customers are advised to plan their trip in advance by visiting transportnsw.info or by calling 131 500.”
The upgrade will provide commuters with better protection from wind, rain and sun, as well as add additional and improved seating and waiting areas for the wharf.
The works form part of the state government’s $100 million scheme to deliver infrastructure upgrades along the Parramatta River.
“Building activities visible from the water will include site installation, piling work and installation of the gangway and floating pontoon,” he said.
“Local residents are advised that the noisiest piling work will be limited to between 5am and 7am with standard work to continue on weekdays between 7am and 6pm and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays."
The project is expected to take approximately five months to complete.
