Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, today announced the community consultation of Penrith Station for potential upgrades.
The upgrade planning documents will go on display next week, which include designs for new lifts and stairs, a new station concourse, and upgrades to the station’s lighting and CCTV systems
“The NSW government is delivering station upgrades right across Western Sydney and customers at Penrith Station will be the latest to benefit from an upgrade,” Constance said.
“The project team will consider all feedback received during the exhibition period as they develop the design, and will work closely with the Office of Environment and Heritage throughout the design process.”
The government plans on building a 300-space, three level multi-storey car park on the same block of land.
Member for Penrith, Stuart Ayres, said the work is being delivered under the Transport Access Program.
“Other improvements planned for Penrith under the program include a new secure and free bike shed with 30 spaces, with installation of the shed expected to start in 2016,” Ayres said.
“We are investigating options on how best to deliver this work as quickly and as efficiently as possible. The full scope of this work, including the exact number of spaces and construction timeline, will be confirmed later this year.”
Since the program began in April 2012, more than 400 projects are underway or have been completed.
