Plans have been drawn for town centres around 11 stations on the Sydenham to Bankstown rail line for community restructuring.
Minister for Planning, Rob Stokes, revealed the visions today which look for opportunities to revitalise areas around these stations.
“The enhanced public transport network is the catalyst for new growth and development along the corridor,” Stokes said.
“These 11 local communities will now have an opportunity to have their say about what they want when it comes to jobs, shops, public amenities and the character of these areas.”
The vision considered opportunities to facilitate new homes, community facilities, shops and businesses to capitalise on the future Sydney Metro.
The precincts include Sydenham, Marrickville, Dulwich Hill, Hurlstone Park, Canterbury, Campsie, Belmore, Lakemba, Wiley Park, Punchbowl and Bankstown.
Parliamentary Secretary for Western Sydney, Ray Williams, said the NSW government will also consult with the property industry to support the development of new homes.
“Community drop-in sessions will run throughout October and November to provide residents with information on the draft plans for their area,” Williams said.
