STATE MEMBER FOR UPPER HUNTER
George Souris, M.P., Member for Upper Hunter, said two safety upgrades on Clarence Town Road will be completed this month as part of the NSW Government’s $20 million investment in this important route between Raymond Terrace and Dungog.
Mr. Souris said the two projects were funded with $3.8 million from the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund.
“Work started in March on the $1.6 million upgrade of about one kilometre of Clarence Town Road north of the Tumbledown Creek bridge.
“Work carried out included widening of lanes and shoulders and improvements to the road alignment and drainage,” Mr. Souris said.
Mr. Souris said work was also nearing completion on the $2.2 million upgrade of the road from just south of Eagleton Forest Road to Wallaroo Creek Bridge carried out by Dungog Shire Council.
“This 2.3 kilometres upgrade included widening lanes and shoulders to improve safety for cyclists and motorists.
“Both projects are part of the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver safe, efficient and high quality road infrastructure across the Hunter region.
“Seven projects have now been completed on Clarence Town Road between Raymond Terrace and Dungog,” Mr. Souris concluded.
