Have your say on modifications to Stage 1 works for Moorebank Intermodal Terminal

Posted On July 8, 2016

A modification request has been received by the applicant SIMTA to make changes to Stage 1 of the approved Moorebank Intermodal Terminal development will be on exhibition from today for community consultation.
The Department of Planning and Environment is keen to hear the community’s views on the proposal which seeks to:

  • import and stockpile approximately 1.6 million cubic metres of ‘clean fill’ materials (such as dirt, soil, gravel and sand)
  • sort the material as it comes in and crushing larger material
  • make minor changes to the timing of vegetation clearing
  • taking measures to prevent erosion and soil running offsite, including fencing and sediment ponds
  • creating temporary roads on the site, amenities for construction workers and temporary storage areas.

A spokesperson for the Department of Planning and Environment said the local community always has an opportunity to share their views.
“Community consultation is an integral part of the planning process and the applicant will have to respond to the feedback we receive,” the spokesperson said.
“This feedback is taken into consideration as part of the assessment.
“It’s easy to participate by going online and we encourage everyone to take a look and have their say.”
