NSW Budget delivers for Western Sydney

The 2013-14 Budget delivers for Western Sydney residents, with major investment in transport, roads, health, education, emergency services and disability services throughout the region, NSW Premier and Minister for Western Sydney Barry O’Farrell said today.

“This Budget shows the NSW Government is getting on with the job of delivering the critical infrastructure and services the people of Western Sydney deserve,” Mr O’Farrell said.

There is funding in the Budget for projects in Western Sydney including;

• $806 million for construction of the North West Rail Link.
• $353 million dedicated to delivering the South West Rail Link.
• $1.8 billion is committed to the 33 kilometre WestConnex project over the forward estimates, including $111 million in this year’s Budget.
• $87 million on upgrades to Camden Valley Way.
• $82.4 million to continue construction of the Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital Expansion Stage 1 at an estimated total cost of $270 million and to continue work on the Blacktown Hospital car park expansion at an estimated total cost of $24.2 million.
• $49.8 million to continue work on the Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment at an estimated total cost of $139.1 million.
• $2.3 million to continue work on the Nepean Hospital car park expansion at an estimated total cost of $23.1 million.
• $879,000 to complete construction of the Nepean Hospital Redevelopment Stage 3A at an estimated total cost of $46.8 million.
• New primary schools at Spring Farm, The Ponds and Strathfield.
• More than $525 million to expand and improve services for people with disability, their families and carers and older people in the Western Sydney Region.
• $16 million to commence construction on new police stations at Liverpool and Riverstone.

“This is a Budget that secures the future for NSW and delivers for the people of Western Sydney,” Mr O’Farrell said.
