QA Software works with Dept of Transport for NSW on projects worth $10 billion

Posted On November 14, 2012

Following the successful implementation of the Department of Transport for NSW’s North West Rail Link project, Melbourne-based project knowledge management solutions company - QA Software - has been awarded additional new projects by the department taking the total value of projects the company is working on with TfNSW to $10 billion.

The $8.5 billion North West Rail Link (NWRL), a priority rail infrastructure venture for TfNSW, sees the QA Software team immersed in the project with staff on-the-ground in Sydney and key members of the management and technical / development teams working collaboratively with TfNSW’s project teams.

The two additional projects are, Wynyard Walk, a pedestrian link from Wynyard Rail Station to Barangaroo in the Western CBD precinct and, the North Strathfield Rail Underpass designed to improve the capacity and reliability for freight trains on the Main North Line between North Strathfield, Broadmeadows and Newcastle.

All three projects are part of the project data collaboration services contract awarded to QA Software mid this year. Before making a decision on TeamBinder as the preferred provider, the TfNSW team undertook a rigorous evaluation of several leading Document Control collaboration solutions involving several months of researching the requirements and specifying them. Several other international products were also considered.

TfNSW’s search for a web-based platform with superior functionality to manage project information including drawings, documents and contractual correspondence on a range of its projects, sees QA Software working on some of its largest projects to date.

With flexibility and the ability to respond to the requirements of the project being high on the list of criteria, TeamBinder’s intuitive framework and effective usability places it as the elite platform for such large and complex projects.

TeamBinder’s granular security and the robust and featured rich platform are some of the critical success factors in meeting TfNSW’s sheer scale and its complex operational requirements.

Robert Bryant General Manager Sales and Marketing says the company is progressing well with the tasks at hand. “A win such as this is not only a terrific vote of confidence in TeamBinder, but also activates the team to produce their very best for the client.”

Mr Bryant says implementing a single collaboration and document control system mitigates potential risks to project objectives caused through inadequate information management processes.

“On complex major projects such as this, key stakeholders need a comprehensive information record - and a single source of truth - to prevent disputes. TeamBinder’s neutral collaboration platform maintains an audit trail of every transaction, supporting efficiency, transparency and accountability throughout the life of all projects,” he said

From the tendering and bid management phase to design and engineering, tracking early works, delivery of the project and hand-over of operations, TeamBinder delivers an end –to-end solution to TfNSW for some of the state’s largest infrastructure projects undertaken this decade.
